PPS is an authorized LaBour Taber distributor. LaBour Taber steam jacketed vertical sump pumps for sulfur recovery units, sulfur pits and loading, supplied and repaired from Houston for refineries and gas plants.
Steam jacketed vertical submerged pumps
The Taber vertical submerged centrifugal pump is the long-standing standard for molten sulfur service in North America. The impeller housing, shaft housing and discharge pipe are steam jacketed, using saturated steam at about 20 to 40 psig (around 280 F), so sulfur stays at pumping temperature from the pit to the discharge flange.

LVA heavy duty ANSI process pumps
For corrosive, toxic and abrasive liquids where a standard ANSI pump wears out too fast, the LaBour LVA heavy duty process pump runs to 4,000 gpm, 728 ft, 350 psi and 500 F.

Why are molten sulfur pumps steam jacketed?
Sulfur solidifies quickly once it cools. Steam jackets on the impeller housing, shaft housing and discharge pipe, using saturated steam at about 20 to 40 psig (around 280 F), keep the sulfur liquid all the way through the pump.
